McNulty Named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

EVANSTON, Ill. — Kiara McNulty, the only Big Ten setter to post three double-doubles in the season-opening weekend, earned the conference Freshman of the Week honors, it was announced Monday.
McNulty, who helped lead the Wildcats to a 3-0 sojourn against South Dakota, New Hampshire, and Milwaukee, averaged 11.5 assists per set and 4.0 digs per set.
The Del Mar, California, native picked up 49 assists in the season lidlifter against South Dakota, the most helpers for a NU player in her debut since at least 1999.
The only conference setter to log 40-plus helpers in all three season-opening matches, the 5-foot-10 McNulty also added five blocks and four aces.
The Wildcats travel to Hamilton, New York, to compete against Princeton, Colgate, and Stephen F. Austin this weekend. The 'Cats will start their three-match swing against Princeton at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 31.
