Crawford and Demps Reunite in Italy, Sign with Vanoli Cremona

EVANSTON, Ill. — Former Northwestern standouts Drew Crawford and Tre Demps have each agreed to terms with Vanoli Cremona of Italy's Serie A Basketball League (LBA), the country's top professional league. Demps joined the club on July 18, 2018, while Crawford inked a deal on July 27, that will keep him with the team until 2020.
The duo were teammates at Northwestern from 2011-14.
"I always had the desire to live and play basketball in Italy, and I'm really very happy that this opportunity has materialized this year," Crawford told La Provincia di Cremona. "I can't wait to start working hard to build a great season, and it will be nice to be with my college buddy Tre Demps. We've known each other for a long time, he is a talented player and a great friend."
Crawford has spent three seasons playing overseas. The Naperville, Illinois, native played the 2017-18 campaign with Maccabi Rishon LeZion in the Israeli BSL. He played in 32 league games and averaged 16.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists.
Demps completed his second professional season with Belfius Mons-Hainaut of the Belgium-Scooore League. The guard saw action in 53 contests during the 2017-18 season and ranked second on the club with a 14.4 scoring average. Demps helped Belfius Mons-Hainaut to a fifth-place finish.
Crawford completed his Northwestern career ranked second on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,920 career points. He earned third-team All-Big Ten honors on two occasions and was the 2010 Big Ten Freshman of the Year.
Demps wrapped up his time as a Wildcat with 1,518 career points, which placed him just outside of the top-10 all-time at Northwestern. The Concord, California, native earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors in 2015 and 2016.
