EVANSTON, Ill. — The No. 7/6 Northwestern lacrosse program will begin postseason play this weekend at the Big Ten Tournament with a semifinal showdown versus No. 3 seed Penn State. The Wildcats earned the No. 2 seed in the tournament with a 5-1 conference record during the conference season and will be facing the Nittany Lions in the semifinals for the third-straight year.

The 'Cats have defeated the Nittany Lions in the semifinals of the last two Big Ten Tournaments, including a dramatic 12-11 win last season in College Park, Maryland, in which Megan Kinna scored the game-winning goal with just 51.7 seconds remaining.

Chicago's Big Ten Team enters the Big Ten Tournament with a 13-4 record overall seeking its 15th-straight NCAA Tournament appearance. The 'Cats have won eight of their last 10 games, including a 17-13 victory at Penn State on April 14.

Six Wildcats were named to the All-Big Ten Team on Wednesday, including unanimous selections Sheila Nesselbush and Selena Lasota. Seniors Shelby Fredericks, Ally Mueller, Lindsay Darrell and redshirt first-year goalkeeper Julie Krupnick join Nesselbush and Lasota with their first career All-Conference honors.

Senior attack and draw specialist Shelby Fredericks is just one draw control shy of tying Alyssa Leonard's program record of 469. Fredericks ranks fourth nationally with 8.31 draw controls per game this season and leads all Big Ten players with 108 total despite missing the first four games of the season.
