EVANSTON, Ill. — After a record-setting weekend in the opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament, Northwestern will make its first quarterfinal appearance since 2015 when it travels to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, to take on No. 2-seed UNC Saturday at noon.

The matchup between the Wildcats and Tar Heels is the only rematch of a regular season among the four NCAA Tournament quarterfinals. The Heels defeated the 'Cats on March 17, 18-13.

The Wildcats opened the NCAA Tournament with a 24-18 win over Richmond, marking its most goals scored ever in a postseason game. The 'Cats' and Spiders' 42 goals combined set a new NCAA Tournament record.

Chicago's Big Ten Team will square off versus North Carolina in the NCAA Tournament for the sixth time in program history. The 'Cats are 4-1 in five previous meetings, defeating the Tar Heels in the 2006 quarterfinals and 2010 and 2011 semifinals. NU won its fifth consecutive championship by defeating UNC in the 2009 title game, 21-7.

Junior attack Selena Lasota also set a NCAA Tournament record and matched Northwestern's single-game record with a career-high nine goals versus the Spiders. Lasota followed her performance up with eight goals in the second round win over Towson.

If not for Lasota's offensive explosion, senior midfielder Sheila Nesselbush would be the story of the NCAA Tournament entering the quarterfinal round. Nesselbush scored six goals in the opening round versus Richmond and set a new career high again just two days later with eight goals in the win over Towson.

Combe Family Head Lacrosse Coach Kelly Amonte Hiller is 42-7 all time in the NCAA Tournament. Hiller 10-2 in NCAA quarterfinal contests.
