EVANSTON, Ill. — Dylan Wu, Ryan Lumsden, and Sam Triplett earned All-Big Ten honors, the conference announced Tuesday.
Wu and Lumsden each earned first team honors for the second consecutive season, while Triplett earned Second Team honors, his first career All-Big Ten selection.
This was Wu's third All-Big Ten selection of his accomplished Northwestern career. The senior leads the Wildcats with a 71.92 stroke average on the year and logged his third-career individual championship this year at the UNCG/Grandover Collegiate tournament in October by shooting a 7-under 209 (69-70-70).
He also placed third in the Big Ten Championships with an even-par 210 (69-68-73), his fourth top-20 finish at the Championships in as many attempts
Lumsden finished top-10 at the Big Ten Championships for the second straight-season last weekend. His four top-ten finishes this season are tied for most on the team and he boasts the second-lowest stroke average on the squad (72.36).
The London, England, native also has two eagles and boasts a low round of 66, both tied for best on the team.
Triplett is having a career year for the Wildcats, as his 72. 88 stroke average is on pace for the best of his career. The Scottsdale, Arizona, native's season highlight came at The Goodwin, where he logged a 7-under 206 (66-70-70) to place fourth, his career-best 54-hole score. His first-round score of 66 was also a career-best and is tied for the lowest round score on the Wildcats.
This marked the first time since 2006 that Northwestern had three All-Big Ten selections in the same season. The Wildcats have had an All-Big Ten honoree in 16 of the last 18 seasons.
Additionally, junior Pete Griffith was named Northwestern's Big Ten Sportsmanship honoree for the season.
Northwestern will learn its fate for the location of its NCAA Regional Championship during the NCAA Men's Golf Championship selection show on the Golf Channel on Wednesday, May 2, at 5 p.m. CT.
