EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern's Dominik Stary was named an All-Big Ten honoree when the conference announced season awards this afternoon.

The sophomore earned a second-team nod for his impressive 2017-18 campaign which included 14 total wins. Stary notched eight victories in duals this year while playing almost entirely at the No. 1 spot in the singles lineup.

His season was highlighted by several signature wins, including a victory over No. 28 Daniel Valent of Vanderbilt on Feb. 28 and another in straight sets over No. 102 Gergely Madarasz of Purdue on April 4.

The announcement marks the second consecutive season that Stary has been named to the team. The Pilsen, Czech Republic native was also awarded a spot last year following his debut campaign in Evanston.

Nick Brookes was named the recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. The first year led NU with five wins in Big Ten play and 10 overall in 2018 dual competition.
