Stary Impresses for 'Cats Against Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Northwestern faced off against the Hawkeyes Sunday afternoon in its fourth conference match of the season.
Dominik Stary put on an impressive performance for the Wildcats in a match that the hosts eventually won by a score of 4-1.
The sophomore again occupied the top spot in the singles lineup, competing there for the 10th straight match and 11th time overall for the season. Stary took on Piotr Smietana, who has already racked up eight wins in 2018 for the Hawkeyes.
Stary took control of the match from the opening serve, cruising to a 6-3 win in the first set. He followed it up with a 6-4 triumph in the second to seal a straight-set victory at No. 1 and give Northwestern its first team point.
Iowa picked up the doubles point as well as wins at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 singles to seal the victory. Chris Ephron was just one game away from winning his match, while rookie Nick Brookes also led in the third set, but both matches went unfinished on the afternoon.
The win for the Hawkeyes puts them at an even 10-10 for the campaign, while NU drops to 7-11 on the year.
Chicago's Big Ten Team will be back in action on Wednesday, April 4 against Purdue in its fourth consecutive tilt away from home. Start time is set for 3 p.m. CT.
