NU to Wrap Up Season With Two Home Matches

4/19/2018 3:53:00 PM | Men's Tennis

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern will close out the regular season this weekend with two home matches at Combe Tennis Center. The 'Cats will host No. 35 Minnesota on Friday at 2:30 p.m. CT before welcoming Wisconsin for a Sunday match at noon.

NU will be looking to finish the campaign off strongly following a pair of defeats last weekend to Penn State and Ohio State. Sophomore Chris Ephron provided a bright spot for the Wildcats as he extended his winning streak to six in a row with a victory against the Nittany Lions.

The nationally-ranked Gophers will enter the weekend at 13-6, including a 6-2 conference mark. Minnesota, which boasts three ranked singles players in its lineup, most recently took down Michigan State, 7-0, in its only match last weekend.

Wisconsin currently sits at 12-10 overall and has compiled a 4-5 record in Big Ten play. The Badgers also faced the Spartans in their last contest, winning by a score of 6-1. UW's top doubles duo is ranked No. 7 in the nation.

After the conclusion of Sunday's match, Chicago's Big Ten Team will begin preparations for the postseason. The Big Ten Championships will take place in Iowa City, Iowa, from April 26-29.
