'Cats Defeated at No. 3 Ohio State
4/15/2018 7:56:00 PM | Men's Tennis
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Northwestern came up short against No. 3 Ohio State Sunday afternoon in a match at the OSU Varsity Tennis Center.
The Buckeyes took the first set to finish with a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles. NU's all-first-year team of Chris Ephron and Antonioni Fasano were just a game away from winning their matchup at No. 3, but the hosts finished off a victory at No. 2 to take the first team point.
In singles play, the third-ranked team in the nation continued its impressive form. Jason Seidman took the first frame in convincing fashion at No. 5 over No. 68 Kyle Seelig, but the Buckeye would come back to eventually win in three sets. Ohio State won each of the other five singles matches in straight sets.
With the defeat, the 'Cats drop to 9-14 on the year, with a 4-5 mark in Big Ten play. The Buckeyes move to 24-2 overall and keep their perfect conference record intact.
Chicago's Big Ten Team will return home next weekend for the final two matches of the season. NU will first take on Minnesota on Friday, April 20 at Combe Tennis Center.
