EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern travels to South Bend, Ind., on Wednesday, April 11, for a mid-week showdown against Notre Dame at 5:05 p.m. CT.

WNUR Sports will broadcast the action.

Northwestern (8-17, 1-8 B1G) will hand the ball to LHP Matt Gannon. The sophomore has made one start this season back on March 27 at Chicago State. Gannon went 2.2 innings and fanned four batters, while allowing five hits.

Notre Dame enters the contest with a 13-18 overall mark and 5-10 record against ACC opponents. The Fighting Irish took the series opener against No. 6 Clemson, 5-2, on Friday, April 6, before falling in the final two contests.

The Fighting Irish will start Charlie Vorsheck (0-1, 9.82 ERA) on the mound. The right-hander threw against Northwestern in 2017 when the Wildcats visited South Bend. Vorsheck went 6.0 innings and held NU to three hits and one run.

As a club, Notre Dame is hitting .268 with a trio of players having 30 hits or more. Nick Podkul leads ND with a .360 clip on 40 hits.

Northwestern was edged by Notre Dame, 3-2, in 2017. Alex Erro went 2-for-4 and scored both of Northwestern's runs, while then-senior Josh Davis struck out six batters.

Erro leads the 'Cats at the plate, batting .292 with a .406 slugging percentage. The sophomore second baseman had his 14-game hitting streak snapped in the first game of a doubleheader against Michigan on April 7. His streak was the longest for an NU player since he posted a 17-game hit streak in his rookie campaign. The Miami, Florida, native has a team-high 28 knocks.

In addition to Erro, senior Jack Claeys and junior Willie Bourbon have played a big role in NU's offensive production this season. Bourbon leads the club with 18 RBI, while Erro and Claeys have each driven in 16. Bourbon is slugging .500 with five double and four home runs, while Claeys has blasted five home runs in the last nine games, including at least one in every Big Ten series.

After taking on Notre Dame, Northwestern heads to No. 10 Indiana for a three-game set. On Friday, April 13, first pitch against the Hoosiers is set for 5:05 p.m. CT. The series continues with a 1:05 p.m. game on Saturday and a 12:05 p.m. final face-off on Sunday.
