'Cats Take Down Cornhuskers, 5-2

LINCOLN, Neb. – Northwestern picked up a dominant conference win Friday evening, taking down Nebraska by a score of 5-2.
The Cornhuskers were on the front foot early, recording wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to take a 1-0 lead in the match. The Wildcats, however, would come storming back in singles competition.
Led by two first years in the lineup, Chicago's Big Ten Team won five of the six singles matches. Nick Brookes continued his strong campaign with a 6-1, 6-4 victory at the No. 2 spot to tie the match at one apiece, before Chris Ephron cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 6 to give NU the lead.
Jason Seidman followed suit with yet another win in straight sets, taking down William Grattan-Smith at No. 5. The hosts then pulled one back with a triumph at No. 3 to cut the deficit.
In the final two matches, the Wildcats finished strong with victories from Dominik Stary and Antonioni Fasano. Stary beat Toby Boyer in three sets at No. 1, before Fasano closed the evening with a tough win at No. 4 to make the final scoreline 5-2.
Northwestern improves to 7-10 on the campaign with the victory, while Nebraska drops to 9-7 overall.
The 'Cats will be back in action on Sunday, April 1 with a visit to Iowa to take on the Hawkeyes at noon.
