No. 5 Northwestern Rolls Past Indiana For Eighth Straight Win, 6-1

EVANSTON, Ill. -- No. 5 Northwestern rolled to its eighth-consecutive victory Saturday, defeating Indiana 6-1 at Combe Tennis Center.
Northwestern (11-3, 3-0 B1G) was thoroughly dominant in taking the doubles point. In fact, it took the Wildcats just 22 minutes to win the necessary two matches. At No. 1, the top-ranked team of Maddie Lipp and Erin Larner needed just 18 minutes to take care of Natalie Whalen and Olga Zavarotnaya, winning 6-0. The pairing of Rheeya Doshi and Julie Byrne was nearly equally as dominant at No. 3 as the duo posted a 6-1 win over Jelly Bozovic and Caitlin Bernard to put NU up 1-0 in the match.
The Hoosiers bounced back to give NU a battle in singles action with the visitors winning at least five games in the first set in each of the first four matches in the lineup.
One Wildcat who didn't have much trouble was first-year Inci Ogut who took care of business at No. 5, notching a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Jelly Bozovic to make it 2-0 Northwestern.
On St. Patrick's Day, Dublin, Ireland, native Julie Byrne also earned a convincing win at No. 6, disposing of Michelle McKamey 6-2, 6-3 to bring NU within one victory of taking the match.
Larner, who is ranked No. 50, had the honor of clinching things for Northwestern as she used a strong second set to close out a 7-6 (3), 6-2 triumph over Madison Appel. Chatt followed soon after with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Xiwei Cai, putting the Wildcats up 5-0.
Indiana got on the board with a victory from Natalie Whalen at No. 2 before the 'Cats got a comeback win from 58th-ranked Lipp at No. 2 as she topped Bernard 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (1).
Northwestern returns to action March 27 following final exams when it takes on Baylor in Waco, Texas.
