
'Cats Winning Streak Ends at No. 26 Baylor

WACO, Texas -- Ninth-ranked Northwestern saw its eight-match winning streak come to an end Tuesday, falling 5-2 to No. 26 Baylor.
Northwestern took the early lead by capturing the doubles point. The Wildcats got a 6-3 victory at No. 3 from Julie Byrne and Rheeya Doshi before the fourth-ranked duo of Erin Larner and Maddie Lipp posted a 6-4 win at No. 1, giving the visitors the advantage heading into singles play.
The host Bears took a 2-1 lead thanks to victories at Nos. 6 and 4 before 49th-ranked Larner finished off a convincing 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1 over Theresa Van Zyl, drawing the match even.
Baylor took a 3-2 lead after earning a win at No. 5, but the final two matches would go down to the wire.
At No. 2, Lee Or was tied 4-4 in her third set with Kris Sorokolet while Maddie Lipp jumped out to a quick lead in her third set at No. 3. However, Sorkolet managed to win the final two games to clinch the win for Baylor.
Northwestern returns to action Friday when it resumes Big Ten play at Maryland. First serve is set for 11 a.m. Central.
