EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern will host a fifth straight match at Combe Tennis Center Friday evening against Vanderbilt before traveling to Cambridge, Mass., on Sunday to face Harvard. The match on Friday will start at 7 p.m. CT, while the action at Harvard is set for 1 p.m.
Chicago's Big Ten Team is coming off a weekend split, falling in a tight contest to Louisville before sweeping IUPUI. NU won the doubles point in both matches, and also got wins from Jason Seidman, Antonioni Fasano, AJ Joshi and Dominik Stary, who went 2-0 in the doubleheader.
Vanderbilt enters the weekend with a 7-2 record on the year, most recently beating Austin Peay 7-0. Friday's match will be the 12th all-time meeting between the programs, with the Commodores holding a 6-5 advantage. The 'Cats have won each of the last three matchups, all by a score of 4-3.
Harvard boasts a 9-2 mark for the campaign, including a perfect 4-0 record at home. The Crimson fell to Dartmouth on Sunday in its last match, and will host two contests in a Friday doubleheader before the visit from NU. In 16 previous matchups with Harvard, Northwestern has won nine, including four straight. The Wildcats recorded a 4-0 victory over the Crimson in Evanston last season.
The trip to Harvard will be the solitary away tilt before NU returns home to Evanston for the following three contests. Sunday's match will also be the final tune-up for the Wildcats before Big Ten action gets underway.
