Northwestern Completes Day One of Big Tens

MINNEAPOLIS —
Tyler Lis, Liam Gately and Will Hofstadter each scored for Northwestern on day three of the 2018 Big Ten Men's Swimming and Diving Championships Friday night.
 
Lis picked up nine points for the Wildcats when he won his finals heat of the 400 IM by touching the wall in an NCAA 'B' cut time of 3:50.13. Lis edged out the second-place finisher by 1.5 seconds.
 
First year Liam Gately qualified for the C-Final of the 200 free on Friday night. In his first appearance at the league championship meet, Gately posted a time of 1:37.21 to take seventh in his race.
 
Hofstader scored 17 points for the Wildcats by taking second in the B-Final of the 100 breast. Hofstadter turned in a time of 53.25, while the first place finisher touched the wall in 53.24.
 
Northwestern's 200 free relay team of Almog Olshtein, Keegan Bundy, Hofstadter and Ryan Tate took ninth with 1:19.60.
 
The Wildcats currently sit in ninth place with 189 points and will wrap up the Big Ten Championships tomorrow.
