
Northwestern Falls to No. 18 Marquette

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern women's basketball fell to No. 18 Marquette on Sunday in Welsh-Ryan Arena. The Wildcats honored Autism Awareness Day with a donation to Autism Speaks.
Three Wildcats contributed double-digit point games, with strong performances from senior Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah and sophomores Lindsey Pulliam and Jordan Hamilton.
Kunaiyi-Akpanah recorded her 10th rebound of the game in the second quarter. It was the second time this season she secured at least 10 rebounds in the first half, after reaching 12 in the first half against Duke in the home-opener on Nov. 11.
Kunaiyi-Akpanah led the team with 15 rebounds, and also shot 6-8 from the line. She finished with 14 points, the second-highest total on the team.
Pulliam led the team in scoring with 15 points, and tied the team high of four assists alongside junior Abi Scheid.
After a slow start, the 'Cats bounced back with a 9-0 run in the second quarter, with Wolf, Pulliam, Hamilton, Kunayi-Akpanah all contributing points. Marquette only answered 7 out of the 19 points scored by Northwestern in the quarter.
Despite tying it up in the third quarter, the Golden Eagles held strong until the end and Northwestern fell, 76-57.
The Wildcats return to the court Dec. 17 at Welsh-Ryan Arena, where they will take on local opponent Chicago State. Tip off is scheduled for 11 a.m.
