Wildcats Host Chicago State Monday For Field Trip Day

EVANSTON, Ill. –Northwestern will host its annual Field Trip Day game against Chicago State on Monday at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Tip-off is set for 11 a.m. and tickets are just $1 for all fans. 
 
The Wildcats are 5-3 to start the season and coming off two ranked matchups against Big East foes DePaul and Marquette. 
 
Senior Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah posted her sixth double-double of the season her last time out against the Golden Eagles with 14 points and 15 rebounds. The forward is averaging 11.8 points and 12.0 rebounds per game this season, with the latter mark ranking third in the Big Ten.
 
Sophomore Lindsey Pulliam leads all scorers on the 'Cats with 15.5 points per game, which also is the eighth best average in the conference. Two other Wildcats are averaging over double-digits in points this season in junior Abi Scheid (12.2) and sophomore Jordan Hamilton (12.0).
 
Hamilton has gotten off to a hot start from downtown this season, shooting a team-high 40% on three-point attempts. She made two of three triples against Marquette and tied her career-high with four makes on seven tries against DePaul. 
 
As a team, the Wildcats are holding opponents to just a 27.6% clip on three-point shooting, which ranks third in the conference. They also rank second in the conference in turnover margin at +2.6 by turning it over at the third lowest rate in the conference while forcing an impressive 17.5 turnovers per game. 
 
Northwestern is 7-2 all-time against Chicago State and has won the last seven meetings against the Cougars. Last year the Wildcats took the matchup 63-36 on the road. 
 
Scouting the Opponents
  • Chicago State is 0-8 to start the season, coming off a 85-35 loss to Big Ten foe Wisconsin on Wednesday. 
  • Sophomore Tyeshia Bowers leads the team offensively, averaging 16.1 points per game
  • The Cougars last win came on Feb. 8 earlier this season at Utah Valley in a WAC matchup.
