EVANSTON, Ill. – No. 25 Northwestern will return home this week to host Old Dominion in a nonconference matchup on Friday afternoon. The contest will take place at historic Patten Gym and is scheduled to start at noon CT.

The Wildcats are coming off a busy weekend at the CKLV Invitational in Las Vegas where 43 teams and over 100 ranked wrestlers were in action. NU came away with two individual champions, as both No. 2 Sebastian Rivera (125) and No. 2 Ryan Deakin (157) took first place in their respective weight classes.

Deakin went 5-0 in the event, winning by major decision or fall in four of his five bouts and taking down two ranked opponents, including No. 6 Kennedy Monday of North Carolina. Rivera also won all five of his contests, with a victory over No. 3 Ronnie Bresser in the championship bout, sealing the title for the sophomore.

Friday's dual will be the first for the 'Cats since hosting No. 14 Virginia Tech in their home opener at the New Welsh-Ryan on Nov. 18. Chicago's Big Ten Team beat the Hokies 20-16 in that matchup, recording its first top-ten win since 2008 in the process.

Old Dominion will enter the contest with an 0-2 mark on the season, having fallen to two teams ranked in the top seven nationally. Most recently, the Monarchs fell 16-15 to No. 5 NC State last Thursday.

The two programs will meet for the second consecutive season, as NU traveled to Old Dominion a year ago for a nonconference meeting on Nov. 12. Northwestern was victorious in a tightly-contested match, with Conan Jennings winning by major decision in the final bout to give the 'Cats a one-point victory.

The contest will not be broadcast due to the location, but live stats will be available on TrackWrestling.

The match will be a return to the location of last season's home matches for Northwestern. NU hosted four conference opponents at historic Patten Gym in a 2017-18 campaign that saw the squad notch three ranked wins and rack up more conference victories than in the previous three seasons combined.
