Wildcats Open Big Ten Play at Rutgers Friday

EVANSTON, Ill. –Northwestern Women's Basketball will open Big Ten play at Rutgers in Piscataway, N.J., Friday Dec 28. Tip off is set for 3 p.m. CT.
The Wildcats closed out their non-conference schedule in Las Vegas at the Duel in the Desert after defeating Wichita State and falling late to Kansas.
Northwestern enters conference play 7-4 with notable wins over Green Bay on the road, No. 21 Duke in the Welsh-Ryan Arena home opener, and an overtime win against SEC foe Florida.
Leading the way for the Wildcats is sophomore Lindsey Pulliam, who is averaging 14.7 points per game and has scored double-digit points in 10 consecutive games this season.
Senior Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah continues to leads the team in rebounds and is averaging a double-double entering conference play with 10.7 ppg and 10.6 rpg. She ranks second in the Big Ten for most double-doubles with seven and ranks in the top 50 nationally for rebounds per game.
As a team, Northwestern is holding its opponents to just a 28.9% clip on three-point shooting and is forcing 13.6 turnovers per game. The Wildcats are also averaging 10 steals per game, the third highest in the Big Ten.
Scouting the Opponent:
- Rutgers enters conference play 7-3 with its last win over LSU at home.
- Redshirt Sophomore Arella Guirantes returns to the Scarlet Knights as the team's leading scorer, averaging 10.6 ppg.
- The Scarlet Knights are 5-0 at home this season.
- Head Coach C. Vivian Stringer is one win away from her 200th Big Ten victory.
