Quotables: Northwestern vs. New Orleans

11/8/2018 11:55:00 AM | Men's Basketball

NU is ready for its home opener on Thursday night against New Orleans at 7 p.m. Read up on what has been said in anticipation of the contest...

"I am not really worried about who starts and who comes off the bench. The way we are trying to play this year involves a lot of cutting, a lot of movement, and involves a lot of activity defensively. I see myself playing a lot of guys. I see myself keeping fresh guys in the game. I don't know night to night who is going to start. I want our guys to all have a starter's mentality … I don't want guys getting caught up in who's starting and who's coming off the bench. It is more about how the pieces fit, who plays well together and let's make sure we always have a team on the court that can be competitive."
--Sullivan-Ubben Head Men's Basketball Coach Chris Collins on the starting lineup

"I can speak for everybody by saying it's just good to be back. For the guys who were in the old Welsh-Ryan, it's made a lot of new changes. I think it's made it a pretty nice arena, as you guys can see. It's good to have our fans back and have our students back, and hopefully we will play some good games for them."
--Senior guard Jordan Ash on playing in the new Welsh-Ryan Arena

"I think we did OK [on Friday]. I thought offensively we ran pretty well. I think our offense did a good job of keeping [McKendree] moving and keeping the floor spaced. I think we could have shot the ball better from the three, obviously, and made more free throws. All together I think we were playing well and cutting hard and the new system looks good. Defensively, whenever you hold someone to 44 points and 20 percent shooting from the floor, it's a good game. I think all the pieces are coming together and hopefully we can keep moving forward."
-- Senior forward Vic Law on implementing new tactics on the court
