EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern is headed to the NCAA Tournament for a program-record fourth straight time. The Wildcats had their name called Monday afternoon during the NCAA selection show and will travel to NC State to play on Friday at 6 p.m. CT.
NU finished 10-4-4 this season with wins over Penn State, Wake Forest and Illinois along with a draw against West Virginia.

The Wildcats have never matched up against NC State in program history. The 'Cats have found postseason success in the Raleigh area before, defeating SIUe in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2016 in Durham, N.C. at Duke.

The Wildcats have advanced out of the first round each of the last three seasons, defeating Washington State in 2015, Kent State in 2016 and Butler in 2017. This year's appearance is the sixth trip to the NCAA tournament in program history.

The Wildcats earned four All-Big Ten selections this season, with Marisa Viggiano and Kayla Sharples making the first team, and their senior classmate Brenna Lovera making the second team. First year goalkeeper Mackenzie Wood was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team.

The winner will play either Milwaukee or Santa Clara in the second round.
