EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern ran past UT-Martin in a 90-64 win on Sunday at Welsh-Ryan Arena to improve their perfect record to 5-0.
Senior Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah dropped her fourth double-double of the season with 12 points and 16 rebounds in 22 minutes on the floor. The forward is averaging 14 rebounds a game this season.
First year Jess Sancataldo provided a spark plug off the bench again, exploding for 20 points in just 13 minutes on 8-10 shooting on the floor. The guard from Australia has proved to be an efficient sharpshooter, going for her second double-digit effort of the season already while shooting 85% from the field.
Junior Byrdy Galernik and sophomores Lindsey Pulliam and Jordan Hamilton each chipped in double-digits as well in the 90-point outburst. Galernik added seven assists and was an electric 8-8 from the charity stripe.
The Wildcats' five game winning-streak to start the season is the longest since the 2015-16 season, when the 'Cats won the first 10 games they played.
Northwestern led from wire to wire and finished with their third win by at least 20 points this season.
Chicago's Big Ten Team is back in action on Thursday when it hosts Pittsburgh at Welsh-Ryan Arena as part of the ACC/B1G Challenge. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
