Ann Arbor, Mich. – On Saturday, the Wildcats took to the pool in their season opener against No. 3 Michigan. Under the new vision of Director of Swimming and Diving Jeremy Kipp, the Wildcats competed in a two day meet, with an unscored exhibition on Friday and a traditional scored meet on Saturday.

Sophomore Calypso Sheridan brought home two individual wins in the 100 and 200 back with times of 54.24 and 1:58.66, respectively. Sheridan also had an impressive showing in the 200 IM and on the 200 medley relay.

Senior Olivia Rosendahl secured  a win and nine team points in the 1-meter event and competed in the 3-meter dive.

Over the weekend, a dynamic group of first year Wildcats also made their collegiate debut in Ann Arbor. On the women's side, Miriam Guervara took second in the 100 fly with a time of 55.63 and scored team points in the 100 back touching the wall in 54.75 seconds. With a handful of second place finishes, three first years made a big contribution to the 'Cats with Yohan Eskrick-Parkinson in the 3-meter event, Ryan Gridley in the 100 and 200 back and Andrew Zhang in the 100 free.

The Wildcat relays also showed their tenacity over the weekend with multiple second place finishes, including the women's team of Calypso Sheridan, Sophie Angus, Miriam Guervara and Malorie Han that finished with a time of 1:41.46 in the 200 medley relay. In the 400 free relay, the men's team of Andrew Zhang, Liam Gately, Peter Lewczyk and Ryan Gridley touched the wall in 3:02.10 for their runner up finish, and in a similar fashion the women's team of Malorie Han, Jasmine Hellmer, Nicole Aarts and Krystal Lara finished in a time of 3:28.11.

The 'Cats will be back in action to take on UIC (Illinois, Chicago) on October 26 at the Norris Aquatics Center.
