ERIE, Penn. — Former Northwestern basketball standout Sanjay Lumpkin was taken with 21st overall pick in the 2018 NBA G League Draft by the Erie BayHawks, an affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks.
 
Lumpkin spent the 2017-18 season playing overseas in Belgium with the Leuven Bears. The Wayzata, Minnesota, native played in 36 games with the Bears and averaged 10.3 points per game with 4.2 rebounds per game average.
 
Lumpkin completed his Northwestern career ranked second in school history with 137 games played and fourth with 126 starts. He was a team captain in 2016-17 and started all 36 games while helping the 'Cats reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history. Lumpkin averaged a career-high 6.0 points per game and 5.4 rebounds during his final season Evanston.
 
The BayHawks open their 2018 campaign on Friday, Oct. 26.
