EVANSTON, Ill. – No. 14 Northwestern faces off against its sixth Big Ten opponent on Thursday when they travel to Piscataway, N.J. to take on Rutgers.

The Wildcats sit at seventh in the Big Ten, with a 2-2-1 conference record.
Last time out, Northwestern took down Michigan 4-1, with four different 'Cats scoring all four goals in the first half. Seniors Brenna Lovera, Kayla Sharples and Jenny Haskel and first-year Haley Lawson all got on the scoresheet for the Wildcats. Lovera's fifth goal of the season leads the team, while both Haskel and Lawson notched career-firsts.
Northwestern has not scored four goals in a half since beating UIC on Aug. 27 2014, and the last time they won by three or more goals was against Illinois State last season on Aug. 20, 2017.
The #B1GCats lead the conference in shutouts (7) and goals-against-average (.477). First year goalkeeper Mackenzie Wood also leads the conference with a save percentage of .880.
The 'Cats and Scarlet Knights have only matched up against each other five times in their history with a 2-2-1 record. Last year, the teams played to a 0-0 draw in Evanston. NU last scored against Rutgers in a 1-0 overtime win in 2015 at Toyota Park.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS

The Scarlet Knights are 7-1-4, with a 3-0-2 Big Ten record, putting them second in the conference. Rutgers is coming off a 2-1 overtime win at Minnesota, following a 0-0 draw at Wisconsin. Rutgers's last six matches have entered overtime, and the Scarlet Knights hold a record of 3-0-3 in those contests.
Sophomore Amirah Ali ranks first in the Big Ten with eight goals, leading her squad with 19 points. Junior Nicole Whitley also sits atop the Big Ten score sheet with seven assists. 11 different Scarlet Knights have collected at least one goal this season.
Freshman goalkeeper Meagan McClelland has started every match of the season so far, making 28 saves. With a .76 goals against average, McClelland and the Rutgers defense rank fourth in the conference. McClelland has also posted four shutouts.
