WILMETTE, Ill. – Paced by three rounds under-par, and a pair of Top-10 individual results, Northwestern posted the best score in the field in Tuesday's final round to secure a Top-4 result at the 11th Annual Windy City Collegiate Classic, hosted at Westmoreland Country Club.
Junior Brooke Riley posted three birdies over a six-hole stretch in the middle of her round to record a 1-under 71 on Tuesday and secure a share of 7th. Newcomer Kelly Sim found herself 2-over for the round and 3-over for the tournament at Tuesday's turn, but flipped a switch before attacking Westmoreland's back-nine. The rookie birdied four holes on the back side, including the course's two longest offerings, the 505-yard No. 11 and the 503-yard No. 15, to card a final round 70 and earn a share of 7th at 1-under for the week.
Senior Stephanie Lau signed her name to a final round 69, Northwestern's best round of the tournament, that featured four birdies and 13 pars. The Fullerton, California, native finished T18 for the second Top-20 of her Windy City career.
Led by medalist Gabriela Ruffels (-10), the University of Southern California took top team honors with an even-par 864 providing a five-shot cushion over runner-up Arizona State.
