BUDAPEST — Former Northwestern swimmer Jordan Wilimovsky anchored Team USA to a silver medal in the 5K Team Relay at the FINA World Championships in Budapest on Thursday.

Wilimovsky and his relay teammates Brendan Casey, Ashley Twichell and Haley Anderson took second place with a time 54:18.1. France took gold in 54:05.9, while Italy earned bronze with a time of 54:31.0.

The Malibu, California, native anchored the relay and made up considerable ground for the United States in the final 1.25K lap.

"We don't get to do relays a lot, so when you do you want to try and win," said Wilimovsky. "I knew I was fair ways behind the French guy and right behind the Italian guy … It was kind of hard to see … I just put my head down."

With today's second-place finish, Wilimvosky has three FINA World Championships medals - 2015; Gold 10K and 2017; Silver 10K.
