Kirchheimer Drops Round of 32 Match to No. 3 Overall Seed

ATHENS, Georgia – Strong Kirchheimer battled through a tough second round match with overall No. 3 seed Petros Chrysochos of Wake Forest but came up just short in the NCAA Tournament's Round of 32.
Kirchheimer, ranked No. 37 nationally, fell to the No. 5 ranked Chrysochos, 6-4, 6-2.
The Northwestern senior ends his final collegiate season with a 28-12 record, bringing his career singles wins total to 107. He finishes his time in Evanston tied for second in program history in singles wins, matching Doug Bohaboy (1995-99) and Alex Witt (1994-98). Kirchheimer also ends his career ranked second in winning percentage (.748, 107-36).
He is the all-time winningest doubles player in school history with 72 wins, besting the previous mark of 69 held by Adam Schaechterle (2002-06).
Kirchheimer earned his third straight All-Big Ten selection, and second straight First Team nod, following an 18-7 dual season at the No. 1 position.
He advanced to the Round of 32 with a three-set (7-5, 5-7, 6-4) win over No. 49 Gabriel Friedrich (South Carolina) on Wednesday.
