EVANSTON, Ill. -- No. 34 Northwestern looks to maintain at least a share of first place in the Big Ten Conference standings when it travels to the state of Indiana for a pair of matches this weekend.

The Wildcats (9-8, 5-0 B1G) square off with Purdue in West Lafayette at 11 a.m. Central time Saturday before taking on Indiana in Bloomington at 10 a.m. Central on Sunday.

Northwestern enters play this weekend atop the league standings with Michigan and Ohio State. The Wildcats will face the Wolverines and the Buckeyes in the coming two week's while eighth-ranked Michigan and third-ranked Ohio State will not face one another in league play this season.

The 'Cats took care of business in a pair of road matches last weekend, defeating Nebraska 4-0 on Friday before posting a 6-1 win at Iowa on Sunday. The two victories extended Northwestern's win streak to four. Junior Erin Larner led the way for NU as she only surrendered three total games in her two matches at No. 1 singles while also posting a pair of convincing doubles wins alongside Brooke Rischbieth.

Larner jumped into this week's ITA national singles rankings, coming in at No. 94. She is also No. 47 in doubles when paired with Rischbieth. Also earning national rankings in doubles are the teams of Maddie Lipp and Alex Chatt (14) as well as Lipp and Rheeya Doshi (76).

Purdue won its first five matches of the season but has dropped 11 in a row since. The Boilermakers most recently dropped a 4-3 decision to visiting Indiana last Saturday. Purdue has been competitive during its recent challenging stretch, capturing at least two points in eight of its last 11 matches. The team of Andjel Djokovic and Rafaella Baquerizo have a No. 52 national ranking in doubles. Northwestern leads its all-time series with Purdue 42-1, including notching a 7-0 win April 8 of last season in Evanston.

Indiana (11-9, 2-3 B1G) is in its first season under head coach Ramiro Azcui following the retirement of longtime coach Lin Lorning in January. The Hoosiers suffered a 4-2 home loss to Marquette on Sunday following their victory over Purdue. Indiana hosts Illinois on Friday prior to welcoming the Wildcats. The doubles team of Madison Appel and Kim Schmider is ranked No. 60 this week. Northwestern holds a 31-21 series lead over Indiana, including posting a 6-1 win is last year's matchup in Evanston April 10.
