EVANSTON, Ill. -- Senior Weekend has arrived early this season, with Northwestern welcoming Purdue to Sharon J. Drysdale Field for a three-game set.

The series gets underway at 4 p.m. CT Friday, April 21, at The J with the first 150 fans through the gate receiving free drawstring bags.

Saturday is a big day, beginning with a noon CT "Breakfast at the Ballpark." Fans can arrive early for a pancake bar, eggs, bacon and more prior to the day's 1 p.m. CT first pitch. The breakfast is free for students and $10 for all other fans. After the game, the 11th annual Purple Auction will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn Evanston at 4 p.m.

The weekend wraps up with Senior Day Sunday. Alcy Bush, Anna Petersen and Krista Williams will be honored in an 11:45 a.m. ceremony prior to the scheduled noon CT first pitch.

Northwestern started Senior Week at Sharon J. Drysdale Field in style Wednesday, earning an 8-0 (6) run-rule win over DePaul. Sophomore Kaley Winegarner threw her first-career shutout, scattering three hits and two walks in a complete-game effort. The Wildcats pulled away from the Blue Demons with a four-run bottom of the sixth, putting an early stop to the game.

Northwestern swept the last series between the Boilermakers and the Wildcats one year ago in West Lafayette, but this is a much different Purdue team coming to Evanston. Most notably, four-year Boilermaker ace Lilly Fecho has graduated after throwing the vast majority of innings for the team over her career. A new coaching staff has the offense's batting average up while the team-speed remains toward the top of the Big Ten Conference; in fact, NU and Purdue are 1-2 in the B1G in stolen bases.

Purdue assistant coach Amanda Rivera-Eberhart is a familiar face for #B1GCats fans. She was NU's volunteer assistant during the Wildcats World Series runs of 2006 and 2007, and she returned to help lead Northwestern to the NCAA Austin Regional final in 2012 as a volunteer.

Northwestern coaches Kate Drohan and Caryl Drohan enter this weekend with 198 career Big Ten wins, two shy of hitting the 200 milestone. The 16th-year NU veterans have 524 wins together at the helm of the Wildcats program.

NORTHWESTERN HOSTS NOTRE DAME TUESDAY, APRIL 25, LIVE ON BTN
This current five-game homestand concludes Tuesday, April 25, when Northwestern hosts Notre Dame at 4 p.m. CT at Sharon J. Drysdale Field. The game will be broadcast live on BTN. As with all midweek games at The J, there will be $1 hot dogs available until the fourth inning and fans can play softball bingo in the stands for great prizes.
