EVANSTON, Ill. -- Pauline Hamilton and Stephanie Chan will represent No. 8 Northwestern this weekend at the NCAA Fencing Championships at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum in Indianapolis, Ind.

Northwestern has finished in the top ten at the NCAA Championships for the last 17 years. Last season, the Wildcats finished eighth after having four fencers selected.

Each weapon group consists of 25 fencers who will compete in a round-robin format of five-touch bouts. The top four fencers after the round-robin advance to the knockout round which is determined by 15-touch bouts. Points earned by each individual student-athlete determine the overall team's place in the championships. A team is awarded one point for each individual victory.

Chan will begin competing in women's foil at 9 a.m. on Saturday while Hamilton will start the epee competition at 11 a.m. Both will resume competition at 9 a.m. on Sunday. The semifinals and Championships will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. Live results of the Championships can be found here.

A live feed of the semi-final and final bouts will be available on ESPN3 or the WatchESPN App. The semi-finals and finals, along with other championship highlights, will air on ESPNU at 2:30 p.m.Eastern time on April 5.

Hamilton's selection caps off what has been an especially impressive freshman campaign. She finished with a bronze medal at the NCAA Midwest Regionals. She helped the epee squad take home first place at the Midwest Fencing Conference Championships and finished fifth in the individual event. She also finished third in the junior competition at the January North American Cup, and seventh in the senior event at the October NAC.

Chan is making the second NCAA Championships appearance of her career as a senior after qualifying in 2015. She led the Wildcats with a team-high seventh place finish in foil at the Midwest Regionals and finished fifth overall at the Midwest Fencing Conference Championships. Chan was also an impressive 10-5 at the NU Duals in early February.
