Northwestern Takes on Nation’s Best at ITA National Indoors

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern will take on some of the best the country has to offer when it heads to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships this weekend in Charlottesville, Va.
The No. 7 ranked Wildcats (10-0) played their way into the tournament by sweeping Memphis and Georgia Tech at home during ITA Kickoff Weekend. Northwestern received the overall No. 6 seed for the event.
Chicago's Big Ten Team will square off against No. 11 seed Oklahoma State in the first round on Friday at 8 a.m. CT. Potential second round matchups consist of No. 3 Ohio State and No. 14 Oklahoma. A complete bracket can be found at the top of the page. All teams are guaranteed three matches over the weekend.
The list of participating teams is: (1) Virginia, (2) Wake Forest, (3) Ohio State, (4) California, (5) North Carolina, (6) Northwestern, (7) Florida, (8) UCLA, (9) USC, (10) Texas, (11) Oklahoma State, (12) Georgia, (13) Baylor, (14) Oklahoma, (15) Mississippi State and (16) Utah State.

Northwestern is making its first ever appearance at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships. The 'Cats enter the tournament on a 10-match winning streak to open the year, the longest in program history. Konrad Zieba (8), Jason Seidman (7) and Strong Kirchheimer (5) all boast lengthy winning streaks. Kirchheimer is ranked 25th by the ITA. The Wildcats have won all 10 doubles points they have played this year. Zieba and Sam Shropshire, ranked No. 53, lead the way there with a 7-0 mark at the No. 1 spot.
