EVANSTON, Ill. — The ninth-ranked Northwestern lacrosse program will continue its five-game road trip and look to improve to 3-0 this Sunday when it takes on Colorado.

The 'Cats opened the season with a pair of wins over Canisius, 9-7, and No. 8 Notre Dame, 14-13. Opening draw for Sunday's contest is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT and can be seen on PAC-12 Mountain. Links for the webstream and live stats are available at the top of the page.

The Buffs are in just their fourth season under the guidance of former NU star Ann Elliott. The Wildcats have won the first two meetings both played in Evanston.

SHARING IS CARING
Junior attack Corinne Wessels has refound her niche as the Wildcats' primary feeder. Wessels had 20 assists as a freshman, but had just five helpers as a sophomore in 2017. She has already dished out seven assists through two games - four versus Canisius and three at No. 8 Notre Dame. The Manassas, Virginia, native is tied with senior Christina Esposito for the team lead with eight points.

CANADIAN EXCHANGE
Senior Danita Stroup (Port Coquitlam, British Columbia), junior Selena Lasota (Campbell River, British Columbia) and freshman Megan Kinna (Maple Ridge, British Columbia) combined to score eight of the Wildcats' 14 goals in their win at No. 8 Notre Dame. Lasota led the way with four tallies - marking the 15th time in her career she has scored at least four goals in a contest. Kinna recorded her first career hat trick on three shots and Stroup found the back of the net for the second-straight game.

CAT-NADIANS
The Canadian Lacrosse Associated and senior women's national team coaching staff announced last week the selection of Northwestern freshman Kinna, Lasota and Stroup to the roster for the 2017 FIL Women's Lacrosse World Cup this summer in Guildford, England. The trio of Wildcats were a part of the U19 Canadian Team coached by Canisius' Scott Teeter that won the nation's first-ever world championship in 2015.

GO, GO, ESPO!
Senior co-captain Christina Esposito leads the Wildcats with seven goals and is tied for the team lead with eight points throug two games. She needs just two points Sunday versus Colorado to reach the 100-point mark for her career. The West Babylon, New York, native has recorded at least one point in 19-straight games dating back to last season.

WEISSE WITH ANOTHER ONE
Sophomore goalkeeper Mallory Weisse came up with stop after stop in the second half versus No. 8 Notre Dame, making eight stops in the final 30 minutes - and 10 total in the game - to help the 'Cats earn the win. She allowed just seven goals in the season opener versus Canisius, earning her second career Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week Honor.

IT DOESN'T GET ANY TOUGHER
The Wildcats started a five-game road trip which features games against four of the top eight teams in the country last Sunday with a 14-13 win over No. 8 Notre Dame. After a trip to Boulder, NU will take on No. 4 USC, No. 5 Syracuse and No. 6 Stony Brook to conclude the road trip. Twelve of the Wildcats' 17 opponents made it to the NCAA Tournament last season. Chicago's Big Ten Team faced the toughest schedule in the country last season according to the NCAA as its opponents combined for a win-loss record of 205.
    • The 90 combined losses by NU opponents were the fewest of any team in the country.
    • NU was one of just three teams in the country whose opponents combined for less than 100 losses last season.

COLORADO CONNECTION
The Buffaloes are led by fourth-year head coach and former Wildcat standout Ann Elliott. As a player and assistant coach under Combe Family Head Lacrosse Coach Kelly Amonte Hiller, Elliott and the Wildcats appeared in the NCAA title game seven times, winning six titles, including three as a player and three as a member of the staff. Former Wildcat Alex Frank is in her second season with the Buffs as an assistant coach. Frank won three national titles with the 'Cats, including in her junior and senior seasons when she elected a team captain.
