Game Notes
EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern kicks off a three game road trip at Indiana on Saturday with a chance to sweep the Hoosiers this season.
Northwestern (17-6, 6-4) sits fourth in the Big Ten standings while Indiana (16-8, 6-5) is tied for fifth. The Wildcats are receiving votes in the latest coaches' poll.
The game is set to tip-off at 11 a.m. and will be televised live on BTN. WNUR will have the radio call, and live stats will be available courtesy of Indiana. Links for all can be found in the table at the top of the page.
SERIES HISTORY
Northwestern has closed the gap of late against Indiana, winning the last two to bring the series history to 38-36 in favor of the Hoosiers. The Wildcats won earlier this year, 80-67, on Jan. 14 in Evanston. Indiana leads the series in Bloomington, 22-12, but Northwestern won the most recent meeting there, a 75-69 victory on Feb. 5.
AWARDS SEASON
As the 2016-17 season winds down, seniors Ashley Deary and Nia Coffey have been selected to various watch lists for national awards. Deary is a top-10 finalist for the Nancy Lieberman Award, given annually to the nation's best point guard. She was also recently named CoSIDA Academic AllDistrict. Coffey was selected to the John R. Wooden Award Late Season Top 20 List, as announced on ESPNU on Feb. 8. She is also among the finalists for the Naismith Award. Both are given to the national player of the year, as voted on by the various award committees. Coffey is also a finalist for the USWBA award, also presented to the national player of the year.
BLOCK PARTY
Northwestern ranks 16th in the country and first in the Big Ten in blocks per game with 5.7. The Wildcats have registered double-digit blocks twice and have had six or more on 11 different occasions, including most recently at Michigan. Nia Coffey leads the team with 34 blocks, and Lauren Douglas is not far behind with 30. Fourteen Wildcats have registered at least one block this year.
