EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern wraps up its opening weekend of Big Ten play Sunday when it travels to Purdue to face the Boilermakers at Mackey Arena. Tip time is set for 3 p.m. Central.

Sunday's contest is the lone scheduled meeting between Northwestern and Purdue this season. The Wildcats have won their Big Ten road opener each of the last three years.

Both the Wildcats and the Boilermakers opened their league slate with victories Friday night. NU won its fourth consecutive Big Ten opener, notching a 72-68 overtime home win over Illinois. Scottie Lindsey came off the bench to lead NU with 22 points while Vic Law contributed 16 points and 7 rebounds.

It was Northwestern's first overtime game since March 10, 2016 when it fell 72-70 to Michigan in the Big Ten tournament. NU and Illinois played their first overtime game against one another since an 89-83 win by the Illini Dec. 30, 2009 in Champaign. It's the first overtime for Northwestern over Illinois since a 23-21 win Feb. 12, 1916. Lindsey posted his fourth 20-point game of the season, one contest after going scoreless at Georgia Tech.

Northwestern went 18-for-21 from the free throw contest in the victory and the team's .775 free throw percentage this season leads the Big Ten while Purdue ranks third (.765). Bryant McIntosh leads the way for the 'Cats at 95.5 percent (21-22) from the charity stripe.

McIntosh is three assists shy of becoming the 13th player in Big Ten history to accumulate 600 career assists.

Purdue won both of last year's meetings with Northwestern, winning 80-59 Feb. 1 in West Lafayette and 69-65 March 5 in Evanston. McIntosh (Greensburg) is the lone Indiana native on NU's roster. Meanwhile, Purdue freshman guard Nojel Eastern is a native of Evanston, Illinois.
