EVANSTON, Ill. — The undefeated Northwestern wrestling squad is set to do battle on the West Coast Friday night with duals against CSU Bakersfield and Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, California.
 
The 'Cats will wrestle CSU Bakersfield at 7 p.m. CT and then Cal Poly at 9 p.m. CT. at Mott Athletics Center.
 
Chicago's Big Ten Team has started the 2017-18 season with four-straight wins, including a 34-12 Big Ten victory over Maryland in NU's home opener. The Wildcats have also notched victories over Gardner-Webb, Old Dominion, and Northern Colorado.
 
This competition is Northwestern's final dual of 2017. The Wildcats will also compete in the 55th Annual Ken Kraft Midlands Championships (Dec. 29-30) at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, before the end of the calendar year.
 
Northwestern has a 2-1 record against Cal Poly and an 0-2 record against CSU Bakersfield, though both of those duals came in the early 1990s. NU matched up at Cal Poly last season as well with the #B1GCats pulling out a 30-8 victory.
 
NU features three ranked grapplers, highlighted by #9 Ryan Deakin and #12 Sebastian Rivera. Both redshirt first-years, Rivera has posted an unblemished 8-0 record in the early parts of the 2017-18 slate.
 
The Wildcats will battle against two ranked wrestlers on CSU Bakersfield, #18 Coleman Hammond (157 lbs.) and #14 Matt Williams (197 lbs.).
