Niswander Named Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week

EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern senior punter Hunter Niswander has been named the Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time this season, the league office announced Monday morning.
Niswander averaged 48.3 yards per punt on six attempts, pinning a season-high three inside the 20. His 61-yard punt in the second quarter was his third longest of the season. The senior finished the regular season with a career-best 42.9 punt average with 19 fair catches, 19 pinned inside the 20 and a career-best 16 punts of 50-plus yards.
Northwestern finished the regular season with a 9-3 record overall and 7-2 mark in Big Ten play, winning seven conference games for just the third time in program history. The 'Cats will play in their third-straight bowl game and eighth in the last 12 seasons under Dan and Susan Jones Family Head Football Coach Pat Fitzgerald. A bowl announcement will be made on Sunday, Dec. 3.
