Wildcats Cook Up Victory Over Santa Clara, 57-47

EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern took advantage of a cornucopia of turnovers to top Santa Clara, 57-47, at historic Beardsley Gym on Wednesday.
The Wildcats outshot the Broncos 40 percent to 28 percent in the win.
First year guard Lindsey Pulliam led Chicago's Big Ten Team in scoring, totaling 16 points. She finished in double-digits for the third time in her first four games.
Chicago's Big Ten Team thrived from beyond the arc, converting at a 44 percent clip. Sophomore forward Abi Scheid led the way for NU, converting two of her three attempts from downtown. The Elk River, Minnesota, native finished with 14 points after hitting five-of-12 from the field.
The Wildcats played tremendous defense to start the competition, holding Santa Clara to 11.5 percent from the field in the first half as the Broncos only made three shots in the first 20 minutes.
Pulliam led the way in the first half, going five-for-five from the field. She led the team with 14 points going into the break.
The Wildcats held a 29-18 lead at halftime.
Santa Clara tightened the Northwestern advantage in the fourth quarter, with the score 49-44 with 4:33 remaining in the contest. The Wildcats, however, would not be denied their opportunity to extend their winning streak to four straight and outscored the Broncos, 8-4, to seal the home victory.
NU defended their home court vigorously in the non-conference game, leading the contest for just north of 34 minutes.
After sharing Thanksgiving together, the Wildcats play three straight in Nashville, Tennessee, starting with a 5 p.m. tip against Chattanooga on Friday, Nov. 24.
