EVANSTON, Ill. – The best shooting team in the Big Ten is back at historic Beardsley Gym inside Evanston Township High School Wednesday when Santa Clara pays a visit. Tip time is 1 p.m.
Northwestern leads the Big Ten and ranks fourth in the country with a 54 percent shooting percentage. Junior Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah (69 percent) and sophomore Abi Scheid (61 percent) rank first and third, respectively, in the conference in that category. The Wildcats get it done on the defensive end as well, holding opponents to just 33 percent from the field, also tops in the Big Ten.
Chicago's Big Ten Team is off to a 3-0 start to the 2017-18 season, the ninth straight time the team has opened with three wins under head coach Joe McKeown. The team is 1-0 at ETHS this season after an 88-70 win over Oakland that saw Kunaiyi-Akpanah become just the third player in program history to record a 20-20 game, as she racked up 27 points and 21 rebounds.

Northwestern is 1-0 all-time against Santa Clara, winning the only previous meeting last season, 87-75. McKeown is 87-26 (.770) at Northwestern in non-conference games and 61-11 at home in such contests.
