Rohde, Scheid Set Career Marks in 71-63 Win at UT-Martin

11/18/2017 4:15:00 PM | Women's Basketball

MARTIN, Tenn. – Senior guard Lydia Rohde and sophomore forward Abi Scheid registered career highs in scoring, as they all but willed Northwestern to a hard-earned 71-63 victory on the road at UT-Martin Saturday.

Rohde notched 22 points on 7-of-11 shooting to lead all scorers. She also made a career high six from beyond the three-point line. Scheid recorded her third straight game in double figures with 21 on 9-of-13 from the field.

Northwestern shot better than 50 percent as a team once again, having done so in all three games this season. The Wildcats nailed 53 percent (25-of-47) of their shots and made seven three-pointers, while knocking down 14-of-16 from the free-throw line.

First year Jordan Hamilton added nine points and dished out seven assists, matching her career high.

Junior forward Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah grabbed 10 rebounds for her third-straight game in double figures in that category. She entered Saturday's contest first in the Big Ten and fourth in the country in rebounds per game. Scheid recorded eight rebounds, coming just shy of a double-double.

Northwestern outrebounded UT-Martin, 37-24.

The Wildcats jumped out to a big 17-9 lead after the first 10 minutes, but UT-Martin battled back and took a one-point lead at the half. Northwestern tied things up after a back-and-forth third quarter and then opened the fourth on a 14-3 run to take a commanding lead that it wouldn't relinquish.

Rohde and Hamilton hit free throws down the stretch to seal the deal.

Chicago's Big Ten Team returns home Wednesday when it hosts Santa Clara at 2 p.m. inside historic Beardsley Gym at Evanston Township High School.
