EVANSTON, Ill. —
Northwestern posted six top times and claimed a pair of first-place finishes, but it was not enough as Wisconsin held on to beat the Wildcats, 162-115, in dual action Saturday morning.

Northwestern's 200-medley relay team of Jack Thorne, Will Hofstadter, Ryan Tate and Almog Olshtein started the meet off for the Wildcats by taking second with a mark of 1:31.13.

DJ Hwang swam a season-best time in the 1,000 free coming in at 9:16.77, which is NU's best mark of the season in the event by 12 seconds.

Northwestern placed 1-2 in the 100 back with Jack Thorne (1st; 49.90) and Alex Snarski (2nd; 50.58). Both times were season-bests for the swimmers, while Thorne's was a Northwestern top time.

Hofstadter claimed a victory for the Wildcats in the 100 breast by touching the wall in 56.58, matching his own top time.

The 200 fly came down to the final length of the pool as Justin Hanson finished second in 1:50.90, just seven-tenths of a second behind Wisconsin's first-place finisher.

In the 50 free, Olshtein came out strong and posted a top time of 20.71 to claim four points for NU and a second-place finish.

Thorne continued his strong day in the 200 back with a Northwestern season-best time of 1:49.72. The junior earned a second-place finish with the mark.

Hofstadter had another strong showing in the 200 breast when he took second in 2:06.28.

Jeffrey Durmer took third place in the 400 IM for the Wildcats in a time of 4:05.08 – it was the first time this season that Northwestern has swam the event.

Northwestern will return to action next weekend when it attempts to defend its crown at the TYR Invitational. The event begins at 9 a.m. CT on Friday, Nov. 17, at the Norris Aquactics Center.
