EVANSTON, Ill. — The Northwestern women's swimming and diving program will hit the road for the first time this season on Friday when it travels to Champaign-Urbana, Illinois for a Big Ten tri-dual versus Illinois and Rutgers before returning home to host UIC and Chicago Saturday morning.

The Wildcats' Big Ten opener will start at 3 p.m. Friday afternoon and Saturday morning's tri-dual will begin at 10 a.m. Fans are encouraged to park in the North Garage of the Henry Crown Sports Pavillion for Saturday's meet.

The Wildcats posted fourteen individual wins last weekend in a pair of duals versus No. 4 Georgia and Georgia Tech, highlighted by first-year Calypso Sheridan, who took first in three solo events (200 breast, 100 back, 200 back), and helped the 200 medley team to a first and a second place finish. Two other swimmers recorded back-to-back wins in the the team's first two meets, senior Mary Warren in the 50 free, and first-year Sophie Angus in the 100 breast.

Northwestern's first-years anchor the 200 medley relay team, which consists of Sheridan, Angus, and fellow first-year Ilektra Lebl, along with Warren. The relay team took second in their first meet against No. 4 Georgia, and pulled out to first against Georgia Tech.

Junior diver Olivia Rosendahl, coming off of Northwestern's first individual national championship in the platform, continued to dominate. She put up two first place finishes in the 3 meter event, and two second place finishes in the 1M. Rosendahl earned her eighth career Big Ten weekly award as the conference's Co-Diver of the Week on Wednesday.

Last season, the 'Cats played host to both Rutgers and Illinois in a Big Ten tri-meet, coming away with a pair of commanding victories of over 50 points each. With this win over the Fighting Illini, Northwestern moved to 19-7 all-time versus Illinois. The Wildcats have not lost to their southerly neighbors since 1996, when they were narrowly edged 57-56. Northwestern also bested the Scarlet Knights in their first matchup in 2014.

Illinois, 1-1 in the season, is coming off of a loss to Michigan State last Friday. Senior Samantha Stratford and first-year Michelle McCord will be fighting to continue their individual successes, with three solo event wins each in their last meet. Rutgers also follows up a loss in a two-day meet against Florida Gulf Coast. The Scarlet Knights are highlighted by sophomore freestyler Alexandra Fabugais-Inaba, who picked up three individual victories over the two days.
