Clem Earns Third Straight Defensive Player of the Week Award

EVANSTON, Ill. – Senior goalkeeper Lauren Clem was awarded her third consecutive Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week award following Northwestern's 1-0 win at Michigan State, the conference announced Thursday.
Clem and the Northwestern defense pitched a fourth straight shutout to close the regular season, earning the Wildcats the No. 2 seed and home-field advantage in the Big Ten Tournament.
Chicago's Big Ten Team will host seventh-seeded Purdue Sunday at Martin Stadium at 2:30 p.m.
The 1-0 win was Clem's ninth shutout of the season and the 46th of her career. She is now tied for fourth on the NCAA's all-time list with Jackie Kerestine (North Texas, 2011-15).
Northwestern is also working on a shutout streak of 381 minutes, the fourth-longest in program history. Clem holds the top-two marks at Northwestern with the record set at 658:58 last season.
Clem made five saves at Michigan State to run her season total to 79, which ranks fourth in the Big Ten. She has made 331 in her career.
Northwestern reached double-digit wins for the third straight year and is hosting the quarterfinals for the third straight time. The Wildcats have advanced to the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament in three of the past four seasons.
