EVANSTON, Ill. – The Northwestern men's swimming team returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 28, at 10 a.m. CT, hosting cross-town foes UIC and the University of Chicago in tri-dual meet competition.
The University of Chicago hosted all three teams last season for a tri-dual meet and the Wildcats defeated both the Flames and Maroons by substantial margins, 210-90 and 214-83, respectively.
The #B1GCats look to build on their strong showing against Georgia Tech last time out where the group posted seven season-high times.
First year DJ Hwang continued his hot start to the season against Georgia Tech. The Honolulu, Hawaii, native finished first in the 1000 free event at 9:28.47 and posted a season-best 4:37.17 in the 500 free event.
Northwestern's relay teams also fared well, finishing second and third in the 200 medley relay. The quartet of Alex Snarski, Will Hofstadter, Ryan Tate, and Almog Olshtein tallied a season-best time of 1:31.84 to take second.
In addition, rookies Liam Gately and Lyon Zhang, and junior Tyler Lis all posted season-best times against the Yellow Jackets.
UIC opened the season with a split against Valparaiso and Green Bay. First-year Hunter Crook paced the Flames with first-place finishes in the 500 free and 1000 free events.
This will be the first action of the season for the University of Chicago. Head coach Jason Weber led the Maroons to a 4-5 record last season.
