Kirchheimer Advances to Semifinals in USA Futures Event

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern alum Strong Kirchheimer '17 competed in the Harlingen Country Club Men's Futures tournament over the past weekend, advancing to the semifinal round.
Kirchheimer, Northwestern's all-time winningest player combined between singles and doubles, won three straight matches to advance out of the qualifying draw. From there, he won two more times in the main draw to advance to the semifinals, where he dropped a close three-set match.
In the main draw, Kirchheimer knocked off Ronnie Schneider, ranked 653 in the world, and Ryan Haviland, ranked 886.
At Northwestern, Kirchheimer had an impressive career record of 105-35 in singles, making him the fifth player in Northwestern history to reach 100 wins in a career. He also ranks second in program history in career winning percentage at .754. Kirchheimer also broke Northwestern's career doubles wins record, finishing with 72.
Kirchheimer has been accepted into the qualifying round for the Player's Choice Open, another USA Futures tournament. Matches begin October 30.
