Northwestern Falls to Georgia Tech in Dual Meet Action

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern men's swimming set seven additional season-high times against Georgia Tech, but Georgia Tech came away with a 209-85 victory Saturday afternoon.
To start off the meet, Northwestern's relay teams finished second and third in the 200 medley relay. The team of Alex Snarski, Will Hofstadter, Ryan Tate and Almog Oshtein tallied a season-best time of 1:31.84 to take second, while the quartet of Jack Thorne, Thanas Kountroubis, Arjun Sharm and Keegan Bundy placed third in 1:33.24.
First year DJ Hwang continued to impress. He won the 1000 free with a time of 9:28.47. He then improved on his season-best time in the 500 free by swimming the event in 4:37.17.
Junior Jack Thorne won the 100 back with a time of 50.47, and senior Alex Snarski finished second with a time of 50.78.
First year Liam Gately won the 500 free and tallied a season-high time of 4:35.48. Fellow first year Lyon Zhang improved his season-best time in the 100 breast by finishing in 58.74.
Junior Tyler Lis notched two second-place finishes in the 200 back and 200 IM. Lis swam his fastest 200 IM of the season, coming in at 1:54.85.
In the 100 free, senior Alex Snarski set a personal-best time of 46.44. Junior Ryan Tate improved his season-high in the event to 46.07.
Northwestern returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 28, when the Wildcats take on UIC and the University of Chicago at 10 a.m. CT at Norris Aquatics Center.
