EVANSTON, Ill. – Senior goalkeeper Lauren Clem was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week after posting a pair of shutouts over the weekend, the conference announced Tuesday.

Clem led the Wildcats to 2-0 victories over then-No. 23 Minnesota and Wisconsin, who was receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches' top-25 to move the team into the top four of the Big Ten standings.

The defending Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year picked up her sixth and seventh shutouts of the season, giving her 44 for her career. Clem is now the Big Ten's all-time leader in that category, and she is tied for seventh on the NCAA all-time career shutouts leaderboard.

Clem made seven saves Thursday against Minnesota, a team that came into the game leading the Big Ten in goals and shots. She made another five saves versus Wisconsin Sunday.

Her 71 saves this season ranks fourth in the Big Ten, and her 4.4 saves per game ranks fifth.

The Northwestern senior played in her 81st and 82nd consecutive games, setting the program record. Clem is currently working on a streak of 201 straight shutout minutes.

Chicago's Big Ten Team is back at Martin Stadium Saturday when it hosts Nebraska at 6 p.m. in the regular season home finale.
