Game Notes: Northwestern | Maryland

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern faces its toughest test yet in 2016-17 with a trip to No. 3 Maryland on Saturday. Tip is set for 1 p.m. CT from the XFinity Center in College Park, Maryland.

The Wildcats (13-3, 2-1) are coming off a 94-87 loss to No. 11 Ohio State on Tuesday, in a game that saw point guard Ashley Deary break the Big Ten's all-time steals record while also dishing out a career-high 14 assists. Maryland (14-1, 2-0) beat Nebraska 93-49 in its most recent outing on Wednesday night. The Terrapins lone loss this year is to No. 1 UConn.

The game will be televised live on Big Ten Network and streamed online via BTN2Go. WNUR has the call on the radio, and live stats will also be available. Links for all can be found in the table at the top of the page, along with game notes for both teams.

SERIES HISTORY
This will be the sixth meeting all-time between Northwestern and Maryland, all of which have come since the Terrapins joined the Big Ten. Maryland has won each of the previous five meetings, three in the regular season and two in the Big Ten tournament, including the semifinals last year.

RARE COMPANY
Northwestern senior forward Nia Coffey became the 18th student from a Big Ten school (and the first Wildcat) to collect 1,000 career rebounds following her 14-rebound night on Dec. 19 at Gonzaga. Coffey currently has 1,996 points and 1,045 rebounds in her Northwestern career, needing just four points to be the fifth Big Ten student to record 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds, joining an elite group that includes Illinois' Jenna Smith (2007-10), Minnesota's Laura Coenen (1982-85), and Ohio State's Jessica Davenport (2004-07) and Jantel Lavender (2008-11).
