EVANSTON, Ill. -- No. 10 Northwestern opened ITA Kickoff Weekend with a dominant 4-0 win over Memphis on Saturday at the Combe Tennis Center.

The Wildcats moved to 5-0 on the season and will face Georgia Tech in the regional final tomorrow at 2 p.m. after the Yellow Jackets beat No. 18 Stanford, 4-1, earlier in the day.

The 'Cats opened the scoring quickly with their fifth straight doubles point of the year. Sam Shropshire and Konrad Zieba raced through a 6-2 set over Andrew Watson and Kai Lemke at No. 1 doubles. Strong Kirchheimer and Dominik Starý clinched the point for the Wildcats with a 6-2 win at No. 2 over Ryan Peniston and Felix Rauch.

Shropshire earned the second Northwestern point with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Lemke at No. 3 singles. Ben Vandixhorn added the third point at No. 5 with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Jan Pallares.

Jason Seidman ended the match at No. 6 after defeating Rauch 6-2, 7-6, including a dramatic 7-5 tiebreak to take the second set.

When the match finished, the 'Cats held strong leads in the remaining three singles matches. Starý came back from one set down against Chris Patzanovsky at No. 4 to get within one game of closing out the match at 3-6, 6-1, 5-2.

No. 26 Kirchheimer was well on his way to a ranked win at No. 1 singles with the match against No. 35 Peniston going unfinished at 7-5, 4-1. Zieba's match against No. 111 Andrew Watson at No. 2 ended on his service game while leading 6-3, 4-5.

Northwestern leads the all time series against Georgia Tech, 2-0, but the teams have not met since a  6-1 win by the 'Cats in 1998.

The Yellow Jackets are led by Christopher Eubanks and Andrew Li, who are nationally ranked No. 9 and No. 61, respectively.

Admission to tomorrow's match is free.
