Nia Parker-Robinson Named Gatorade Indiana Volleyball Player of the Year

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern signee Nia Parker-Robinson was named the Gatorade Indiana Volleyball Player of the Year, the organization announced Tuesday.
Parker-Robinson led Cathedral High School to a 31-4 record and the Indiana Class 4A state championship this past season. The 6-foot-2 outside hitter notched 588 kills, 252 digs and 44 blocks in her senior year and was also named an Under Armour Second Team All-American.
"We are incredibly proud of Nia," head coach Shane Davis said. "She deserves this recognition, and it just validates that she is one of the best incoming freshmen in the country. We cannot wait until Nia gets on campus."
Parker-Robinson is a peer mentor at her school and has volunteered her time with the Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity and several local causes. For more on Parker-Robinson, check out the official Gatorade announcement.
The Gatorade Player of the Year Award recognizes outstanding athletic excellence, along with academic achievement and exemplary character on and off the field. One winner is recognized in every state, and each state winner then has the opportunity to win Gatorade National Player of the Year. The selection process is administered by the Gatorade Player of the Year selection committee, which works with top sport-specific experts and a media advisory board of accomplished, veteran prep sports journalists to determine the winners.
